Children should have their first orthodontic evaluation by around age 7, when a mix of milk and permanent teeth allows us to spot developing problems early. Many issues — narrow jaws, harmful oral habits, early loss of milk teeth, or erupting teeth being blocked — are far easier to correct while a child is still growing.
Early (interceptive) orthodontic care doesn't always mean braces. It may involve simple habit-breaking appliances, space maintainers to hold room for permanent teeth, or expanders to guide jaw growth. Working together, our Pediatric Dentist and Orthodontist make these visits friendly and positive, so your child grows up comfortable with dental care.
Children roughly 6–12 years old — especially those with thumb-sucking or mouth-breathing habits, early loss of milk teeth, very crowded new teeth, or a bite that looks 'off' to a parent.
