A cracked, decayed or infected tooth doesn't have to come out. At Gourav Dental Art, our MDS-qualified dentists treat the infected root, seal the tooth and cap it with a crown that looks and bites just like a natural tooth — with the full cost explained before we begin.
A root canal treatment removes infected pulp from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the canal, and is almost always finished with a cap (crown) so the tooth can bite normally again without fracturing. At Gourav Dental Art in Karnal, the procedure is usually completed in 1–2 sittings under local anaesthesia, is not painful once numbed, and the exact dental crown cost in Karnal depends on the crown material you choose — you'll get this in writing after a digital X-ray, before any work starts.
Root canal treatment has a reputation it doesn't deserve — most of the fear comes from outdated stories, not the modern procedure. Here's what actually happens in our chair.
Your root canal and crown are planned and performed by a post-graduate consultant dentist — the same person from diagnosis to final crown fitting.
Low-radiation digital imaging shows exactly how many canals need treatment before we start, so there are no surprises mid-procedure.
Canals are cleaned with rotary instruments rather than hand files alone — faster, more precise, and gentler than older methods.
A written treatment plan with the full root canal and crown cost before we touch the tooth. What you agree to is what you pay.
Autoclaved instruments and single-use disposables for every patient, with a documented infection-control protocol.
Sudden throbbing pain or swelling? Call us and we'll fit you in the same working day wherever possible.
Inside every tooth, beneath the enamel and dentin, sits a soft tissue called the pulp — full of nerves and blood vessels. Deep decay, a crack, or repeated dental work can let bacteria reach this pulp and infect it. Left alone, the infection causes pain, swelling, and eventually an abscess at the root tip.
A root canal treatment (endodontic treatment) removes this infected pulp, disinfects the hollow canal inside the root, and fills it with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha. The tooth is then sealed and, in almost every case, covered with a crown so it can handle normal biting force again. The alternative — extraction — removes the tooth entirely, which is why we recommend root canal treatment whenever the tooth can realistically be saved.
If you recognise even one of these, it's worth getting the tooth examined before the infection spreads. Delaying rarely makes the treatment simpler — it usually makes it more urgent.
Most patients complete this in one to two visits, roughly a week apart.
We check the tooth, take a digital X-ray to see the root structure and infection, and confirm root canal treatment is the right option for you.
The tooth and surrounding gum are fully numbed. You'll feel pressure during treatment, but not pain.
A small opening is made in the tooth to access and remove the infected pulp using rotary endodontic instruments.
The canal is disinfected, shaped, and filled with gutta-percha to seal it against future infection.
A treated tooth is more brittle, so we cap it with a crown — matched to your bite and shade — so it can chew normally for years.
The dental crown cost in Karnal varies mainly by material. We'll recommend the right one for the tooth's position and your budget at your consultation — here's how the common options compare.
| Crown type | Appearance | Durability | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metal crown | Silver-coloured, visible | Very high, longest-lasting | Back molars where looks matter less |
| PFM (metal-ceramic) | Tooth-coloured with a metal base | High | A balance of strength and appearance |
| Zirconia crown | Natural, tooth-coloured, metal-free | High, chip-resistant | Front teeth and anyone wanting a natural finish |
We don't believe in surprise bills. Every patient gets a written estimate after examination — before treatment starts. In general, three things decide the final cost:
Front teeth usually have one canal; molars can have three or four — more canals mean more clinical time.
Metal, PFM and zirconia crowns sit at different price points — zirconia typically costs more than metal.
A re-treatment or a tooth with a curved, calcified canal takes longer than a straightforward first-time case.
Ask us for an exact quote on WhatsApp — send a photo of the tooth or your X-ray if you have one, and we'll give you a realistic estimate before you even visit. Monthly instalment options are available for combined root canal and crown treatment, and we accept UPI, cards and cash.
| Root canal + crown | Extraction | |
|---|---|---|
| Keeps your natural tooth | Yes | No — tooth is removed |
| Effect on chewing & alignment | Bite and neighbouring teeth stay stable | May need a bridge or implant later to avoid shifting teeth |
| Typical recovery | Mild tenderness for a couple of days | Socket healing over 1–2 weeks |
| Long-term cost | One-time treatment plus crown | Often costs more later if replacing the gap |
We always try to save the natural tooth first. Extraction is only suggested when the tooth is too badly damaged, fractured below the gumline, or the root canal has a poor chance of success — and we'll tell you honestly which situation you're in.
Consultant Dentist, Gourav Dental Art, Karnal
Dr. Gourav Kamboj plans and performs every root canal and crown case at the clinic himself, using digital X-rays and rotary endodontic technique to keep treatment precise and as comfortable as possible. He explains each step in plain language before starting, so you always know what's happening and why.
Clean clinic, appointments actually run on time, and nobody pushed unnecessary treatment on me. Rare combination.
I was dreading the root canal from stories I'd heard. It was explained clearly, the cost was fixed upfront, and the pain I came in with was gone the same day.
Got a crown fitted after my root canal — looks completely natural, and no one can tell which tooth it is.
No — the tooth and gum are fully numbed with local anaesthesia before we begin, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. Mild tenderness for a day or two afterwards is normal and settles with a regular painkiller.
Most cases are completed in one to two sittings, roughly a week apart. The tooth is then fitted with a crown at a follow-up visit once it has settled.
It depends on the material — metal, PFM or zirconia — and each sits at a different price point. You'll receive an exact, written cost after your examination, with no hidden charges added later.
In almost all cases, yes — especially for back teeth. A root-treated tooth loses some of its structural strength and is more prone to cracking under normal chewing force without a crown to protect it.
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, a well-fitted crown typically lasts 10–15 years or longer, depending on the material and how it's cared for.
It's uncommon, but a treated tooth can occasionally get reinfected — usually from a new cavity or a crack. If that happens, a re-treatment can often resolve it, which is why we recommend a crown and regular follow-up.
